Dubai Expo 2020 - grand opening

Expo 2020 Dubai, the Middle East's first world fair, began on Thursday with a spectacular ceremony with fireworks, music, and messages on the potential of global collaboration for a more sustainable future.

Italian tenor singer Andrea Bocelli, British singer Ellie Goulding, Chinese pianist Lang Lang, and Saudi vocalist Mohammed Abdu were among the stars that performed during the inaugural event, which was broadcast live in public locations around the UAE.

The spectacular fireworks displays will take place on Friday, October 1st, starting at 2020 GMT, in Dubai Festival City, The Frame, and The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah, with each location hosting its own celebrations. The Pointe and Dubai Festival City will both combine their fountains into a spectacular light and sound display based on Expo 2020, while The Frame's façade will be lighted up in Expo colors. At each, flags of participating nations will be displayed, along with kiosks for purchasing Expo 2020 tickets on the ground.

Emaar's Rove, Armani, Address Hotels & Resorts, and Vida Hotels & Resorts, as well as Accor, Marriot, Hilton, IHG, Rotana, Jumeirah, Hyatt International, and Atlantis The Palm, are among the more than 240 hotels nationwide that will broadcast the Opening Ceremony. In addition, the experience will be streamed in 17 Majid Al Futtaim malls, including City Walk, Nakheel Mall, and Ibn Battuta Mall, as well as 50 Jashanmal sites around Dubai and Abu Dhabi, 97 Mediclinics, Dubai and Abu Dhabi International Airports, Zabeel Ladies Club, and Sharaf DG.

Many nations and businesses expect the expo, which is the first major global event open to the public since the coronavirus epidemic, to promote commerce and investment.

Dubai says it wants the Expo, which will be held under the theme "Connecting Minds and Creating the Future," to be a showcase of innovation and a location where global issues like climate change, war, and economic development can be tackled collaboratively.

The event will very certainly face worldwide travel aversion, and many events will be broadcast live online. However, the Expo is expected to attract more visitors than Milan and more than double the population of the United Arab Emirates.

Tickets to Expo 2020 Dubai are available online and through more than 2,500 Authorised Ticket Resellers, including online travel agents, tour operators, hotel groups and airlines from 100-plus markets around the world.
