Economic Zones World Initiative gives New Dimension to Public-Private Partnership |

The AED 250 million Dubai Textile City, a part of Economic Zones World, is all set to commence its operations from April this year. A joint venture between the UAE Textile Merchants Group (Texmas) and Economic Zones World, Dubai Textile City is designed to provide a major boost to the UAE's textile trade and make Dubai the textile hub of the Middle East region. |
"Dubai Textile City is a brilliant example of public and private partnership for the empowerment of businesses to achieve unhindered growth", said Salma Hareb, CEO Jafza and Economic Zones World, while commenting on the project.
"The initiative will provide the textile trade in the country the cutting edge to attract more and more global players and boost trade to achieve new heights in the years to come", she added.

Ashok Sawlani, Honorary Chairman of Texmas, commenting on Dubai Textile City said: "Well structured facilities and free zone incentives at Dubai Textile City will enable textile merchants to offer prompt and highly cost-effective one-stop services to their local and overseas buyers. We expect more than a 40% reduction in our operating costs once Dubai Textile City comes into operation. This will help Dubai achieve a more than 20% growth in the year to reinforce its status as the region's textile trading hub." Dubai's textile trade has seen a decline in the last two years.
Under an agreement signed on January 14, 2007,
Economic Zones World has reconfirmed a long term
BOT concession to Texmas to develop and manage
Dubai Textile City on a land allotted by the
Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation.
Under the agreement, Economic Zones World will be
extending similar facilities and services to those
offered in Jafza with full onsite Customs services
to Dubai Textile City tenants.
Dubai Textile City is a well planned, self
contained development, offering a fully integrated
network of support services including banking,
logistics, secretarial and other office services
along with healthcare facilities, food courts and
a mosque within the city itself.
Spread over an area of over 6 million sq.ft.,
Dubai Textile City has a total built-up area of 2
million sq.ft. comprising a total of 286 units.
Dubai Textile City offers 3 types (3000 sq.ft.,
5500 sq.ft. and 11 ,000 sq.ft.) of mixed use
facilities, each comprising a showroom in front,
an office on top and a warehouse at the back of
the facility. Every facility has a dedicated
docking provision for trucks for the loading and
unloading of cargo.
The iconic Economic Zones World initiative is in
line with Dubai's focused strategy to always
remain ahead of time. Once operational, Dubai
Textile City will give a new direction and
dimension to Dubai's textile trade. Dubai
re-exports textiles to over 50 countries
worldwide. |
