Dubai Industrial City establishes Permits Department to speed up approvals process
Dubai Industrial City yesterday launched the Permits Department to assist investors with their proposals for construction of industrial facilities.
The move is part of the engineering compliance that is being implemented by
Maqayees, the Centre for Industrial Standards. |
| Rashed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Industrial City, which operates under the umbrella of Tatweer, said the launch of the new Permits Department brings another innovative service to the clients. |

He said:
'The Permits Department will review the construction plans, designs, and application procedures and documents of investors. This will ensure that they adhere to our Design and Construction Guidelines and Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards, as well as local and federal laws."
'The aim is to provide investors with a smooth and fast service that helps them quickly obtain the necessary approvals to build their units.'
The setting up of the Permits Department is part of engineering compliance being implemented by Maqayees.
The Permits Department will operate on weekdays from 8am to 3pm and will review design plans, application forms, and all other documents and procedures from investors. It will provide them with a no objection certificate (NOC) which in turn will facilitate obtaining approvals from government departments such as Dubai Municipality.
Al Ansari said: 'More than 30 per cent of applications received so far for industrial projects were rejected because they did not comply with the standards. The new service aims at assisting our clients and business stakeholders to gain confidence towards continued compliance and to minimise delays in processing.'
The launch of the Permits Department further ensures integrity of Dubai Industrial City's master plan designed on a live, work and play concept.
Maqayees has commenced monitoring visits to all construction sites across the city to ensure industrial investors are abiding by HSE Plans and Programmes during all phases of construction.
Al Ansari said: 'We do not compromise on our HSE standards and we are making sure that laws and regulations, whether they were set by us or by government bodies, are adhered to across the entire city.'
'Our target is to ease the entire process for investors and offer them a technical service that will take them to the next stage whilst also ensuring full compliance. We will be offering the services as a single stop solution under the Permits Department with a team of Engineering and HSE professionals.'
Located in close proximity to the new Jebel Ali Airport and Jebel Ali Port, with easy
accessibility to major highways, the Dubai Industrial City at Saih Shuaib area offers a dedicated destination comprising six industrial clusters for food and beverage, base metals, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment. |
