Transit passengers could be allowed to take tour of Dubai city.
The authorities in Dubai are mulling a plan to allow transit passangers to leave the airport and visit the city, Khaleej Times reported.

According to a proposal submitted by the Dubai Airports, transit time will become tourism time as passengers are encouraged to leave the airport to experience the city.

Dubai Media Office tweeted a video themed 'Microcosm of Dubai', outlining a project that proposes routes to guide passengers who are in transit in Dubai for more than four hours.

As for passengers who are in transit for less than four hours, they will have the oppurtunity to enjoy a "virtual tour" of the city.

According to latest statistics, up to 4.5 million on average transit through Dubai International Airmort monthly-thus exceeding 50 million passengers a year.

The updated figures show that an estimated 46 million of these passangers are not allowed to enter Dubai city during transit time.
