DMCC, the world’s leading Free Zone for trade and enterprise and master developer of the Jumeirah Lakes Towers district in Dubai, today announced that it has signed a collaboration agreement with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to manage short-term parking across the district. DMCC is the first Free Zone in Dubai introducing a mobile parking solution across its community.

Under the terms of the 10-year agreement, the RTA will activate smart parking methods across all public car parks in JLT. This will allow motorists to pay their parking fees exclusively through the RTA’s convenient mParking System via SMS, or through its designated SMART Parking smartphone app. The RTA will also be undertaking further tests on new functionalities and smart technology within the community.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC, said:

With an ambitious smart district strategy and well defined master plan, DMCC will stand out as one of the smartest districts in the UAE by 2021, with capabilities facilitating a range of business and lifestyle requirements digitally. This is a first among free zones in Dubai.

Maitha Bin Adai, CEO of the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, also commented:

Providing smart, efficient and high quality solutions for the people of Dubai has been high on the government’s agenda. We look forward to working with DMCC to enhance the overall community experience, and making mobility across the JLT district easier and smoother.”

As of 3 December parking hours will be from 8am to 10pm, Saturday to Thursday. Applicable fees will be AED 2 for a half-hour, or AED 4 per hour for up to seven hours. The fee for 8 to 24 hours will be AED 32. Parking is free on Fridays.
